Hi,

I am looking to trace information on my great granddad Thomas Holden. It hasn't been easy so far. All i know is that he was born on the 16th of June 1884 and i am assuming it was in Liverpool but also could have been Ireland - he was married to Annie Riley (D.O.B - 26/12/1896) again I don't know the date that they were married. I know that they lived in Atwell street Everton in 1939. He had eight children and possibly a brother called Henry, rumour has it Thomas also went by a different name?.... Unfortunately my grandparents and great aunts/uncles refused to talk about him and when we asked about him were told not to ask, since then my grandparents have died and my 2 remaining great uncles still will not discuss him, one won't the other now suffers dementia. I know it is not much to go on but I'm now completely at a loss and don't know how to continue.

Between 1914 and 1940 there were 9 children registered, Liverpool or West Derby to the combination, Holden/Riley.

Thank you, I have seen this record before and I did think it may have been a lead, the only things that made me doubt it was my Nanna (Annie) is that she was born in 1896 which would have made her 18 in 1914 and also that she was Catholic, and I was under the impresson that St Peters was a protistant church - Is it possible that in 1914 Catholics could marry in a protistant church? and is there a chance that her age could be wrong on the certificate?

There wouldn't be a problem Annie marrying at St Peter's and numerous marriages the couples never had their correct ages recorded, reasons numerous again.

Ohhh so clearly I have been looking into this far to deeply.... the fact that they married on her birthday made me think it may have been them.... Thank you

We'll be happy to help if you need it further, but suspect you may be able to work with the details you now have, but wonder if you have also joined our Facebook Group where there is Ken Holden in the Group who may have information that he has researched, he seems to dabble in every instance of the name he comes across.
