Hi, This couple were married at St Nicks on November 18th 1812. She was a widow and he a widower and a Hatter. Lancashire OPC have a gap after August 1812 until 1813; Ancestry does not start til 1813; family search other film does not include 1812; and I do not have FMP or access to Liverpool records office, :(
If a kind person could look up the image for this register for me, I would be very greatful.
I think perhaps Alice Jones was born Alice Jones (father James) and her first marriage might have been to John Carnes (a mariner) in 1798 at St Nicks. I would also like to see if there were any suitable deaths for him before her remarriage in 1812. I have not found any but he might have vanished at sea, I can't find any children either.

HELP please.

The marriage register page is viewable on Ancestry.

Sadly prior to 1837 this is as much as you are going to get, I'll try for a copy of the licence but it often doesn't give any more detail.

I think the second witness is Jas Rigby.

Thanks Mary. Now James Rigby watchmaker was also named on the licence and a witness. Do you think that this means he was a friend/ relative of Alice or was that not necessary. The Edward Coventry was on most of the registers , he must be belonging to the church. (Church Warden?)

I would suspect he was either some sort of relative or friend chosen as witness. There is often one who is a member of the church so suspect you are right about Edward Coventry.
