I have looked on 1841 census and found Thomas living with his wife, Ellen, son James (a widower) and grand children Elizabeth, Ellen and Jane, in Eaton Street. Thomas and James were both labourers. The children aged 14, 10 and 6.
I have looked on GRO for deaths of Thomas Harrison Liverpool between 1841 and 1847 (when Ellen died, saying she was the widow of Thomas a saywer)
There were only 2 1842 and 1844. The later was a gentleman. Not mine I fear.
The former. I have the certificate . he was in Collingwood Street a labourer, but the witness was a Mary Owens from the same address, present at the death. I cannot find a link. Why not the wife? are there any ideas, or any directory that might shed a light on it. Unfortunately no number Collingwood St is given. He was buried at St Pauls, where all the family where baptised and Ellen buried in 1847. Any ideas please. Thanks

No Mary listed at Collingwood Street in the 1843 directory, but this is an entry she may be connected with.
Owens John, Coal and marine store dealer, 33 Collingwood Street

There is also this family in 1841

James 35 Shoemaker
Mary 40
Thomas 1 month

Perhaps she acted as a nurse?
