Sandfield House, Roby, 1892

This address was given in the Probate record as place of residence or death of George Bond who died in 1892. He had formerly been vicar of Farnworth.
I have been unable to find where this place was and his family were elsewhere, so it may have been a nursing home or similar.
Any suggestions, please?

There is a Sandfield House in Whiston, formerly Sandfield cottages. It is shown as a listed building, but I can't see any information as to its use.

Thank you both for your findings. I think Bert's is the more likely and will now look for owners etc. to find out [or try] why Mr Bond was there.

Bert
Thanks for that. Busy elsewhere, so did not see your post until now. Yes, I think that is the right place, but have no idea about why our man was there later. Still digging!

By the 1950s Sandfield had been renamed Silverdene it survived until at least the 1970s. It survived much longer than the adjacent house Summerfield/Sunnyfield that doesn't appear on 1950s maps.

Thank you, Blue. I know that corner well, but did not know the house had been there. It looks as if the railway came through after the cottages and house/villa were named.
