variola confluent - smallpox

Post by 42lingfield »

I have obtained a death cert and beneath the cause of death, 'variola confluent 10? days', it says 'vaccinated 2 ............'. Can anyone tell me what the missing word might be?

The death certification, March 1886, is by Donald ? .......... Master, City Hospital, Park Hill, Toxteth Park. Again can any tell me the missing name please. My Google searches have produced blanks.

Are you able to scan or photograph the certificate so that we can see it? Instructions to show a photograph in your post here https://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ ... =16&t=9817

Mary - thanks for note. My computer skills are modest to say the least. My daughter is better at it and we will try again in the light of your info.

Oh my word. Thank you for the link Luxor

I've tried everything I can think of via both the censuses and directories I have to hand and so far haven't come across him. He was not the master in 1891 as that was Charles Knox Bond and it would seem wasn't in existence in 1881. Jan44 provided some useful information in this post https://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ ... 56#p102632

luxor, daggers and MaryA. Thanks for the further info.

daggers - I think Scrimgeour is a good call. We are going to see if we can confirm it.

luxor - Have had a look at the link. Will have a proper read soon.

MaryA Thanks for the link.

On a closer look with a bigger screen I now think the spelling is ScrYmgeour, a variation of the other.

daggers - I will go with the Y. Does your larger screen show more clearly the words after vaccinated, please.

Sorry but my reading of the words is not better than Mary's, and I have no medical expertise to offer.

I realise that my spelling might be ambiguous with the typeface, I'm meaning Scrymgiour as I thought I saw a dot over the i.

Mary & daggers - thanks for the further tit-bits. I think we must now let this matter rest. We have given it a good go and I shall keep pegging away.I much appreciate your endeavours on my behalf,

Peter.

It could be this St Helens born man who had various administrative jobs. He married Ada Mary Wilson either at the registry office or at a non C of E church in Toxteth in 1887:-
