Happy New Year to all on the Forum. I am hoping you can help me solve a puzzle. I have the death certificate for a child who died on the 27 December 1892. Checking for a burial at Ford Cemetery I have found that the year 1892 only lists burials up to the 19 December. I tried 1893 but that year starts 7 January. Does this mean no records were made or has that last page for 1892 been lost. I will be very grateful if anyone knows the answer. yappie

As Bert says, this database is easy to search by date, try my method
Search>
Card Catalogue>
Keyword - "Liverpool"
Then choose Catholic Burials
You can put the exact date in which will bring you the list for Ford, with a few others mixed in the list.

Hi Bertieone and Mary Thank you for your quick replies. The little one was Margaret Welsh born December 1891 died 27 December 1892 in Effingham Street Bootle. I have tried for a number of years to find her burial without success. Ford Cemetery is where most members of the family are buried although I have just noticed death was registered in the sub-district of Walton. Would that mean she was buried elsewhere. I have all the information on the other siblings that past except Margaret. I am very grateful that you have take the time to help. yappie

Although the death is registered in the Walton district, it is up to whoever is arranging the funeral to decide where the burial would take place. Unfortunately I don't see it either at the end of December or in January, can't be any longer than that surely?
Did the certificate by any chance suggest the Coroner may have been involved? which might have postponed the funeral by some time.
Otherwise I would suggest making an enquiry with Thornton as they also I believe hold registers for Bootle, I've heard they are very helpful.

Hi Mary - Her Mother registered the death due to measles certified by, I presume, the local Doctor. Sadly four other children died young and all are buried in Ford Cemetery. Thank you once again for taking the time to help. yappie

No luck here. I thought about looking at Bootle Cemetery on Family Search but then realised it wasn't opened until 1913. It might be worth trying Anfield Cemetery. It doesn't look like there were any RC churchyards in the area they could have used. Walton Park was my first thought but not there.

I'm not sure you will find anything online that will give the burial at Anfield at that date.
Let me know if you do come across it as I've added it to my list for the Record Office for next week.

Mary I will be very grateful if you could add Margaret to your list but please don't let it interfere with your own research. Unfortunately I am not to get to Liverpool now. My Mum was born in Bootle and I spent many happy hours there with my Great Aunts and Uncle. yappie

I always try, although don't always succeed, to get to the library in the morning before the Help Desk so that I can do a few look ups. Given the time, always happy to for a Society member.

Just to say sorry that I didn't find Margaret in the RC section of Anfield. Could be an idea if you were to contact Sefton and ask if she is in Bootle, going by the address.

Hi Mary - Very many thanks for looking up Margaret. I have tried Bootle not there. I think I will now have to give up and assume a transcription error somewhere along the line. Again thank you. yappie
