Looking for Whitehead family

Post by Jacnjil128 »

I am hoping somebody may be able to help me as I have reached a brick wall....I am researching my Mum's family, I live in Australia so am not able to visit all the places I wish I could. I am looking for my Great Grandmother and her family She was Jane WHITEHEAD born approx 1868 in Liverpool. I have a marriage certificate for her to Frank BURTON 1890 in Levenshulme, and in that it states her father as George WHITEHEAD deceased, occupation--foreman in bus yard.
I have a census record of her for 1901 with my G.Grandfather Frank BURTON and her family of 2 boys my Granddad also Frank and his brother Barry
Jane was also known as Jennie I do have her death records
I would really appreciate any help at all as I haven't even been able to find a birth or any other census records at all.

Hello everyone I am sorry I haven't been back to the forum things have been busy in my life and I just have not had time to do my family history. That said, I am so grateful to you all for the posts with info for me I think that George and Fanny might be the Whiteheads that I need.... as for the Burton side I still have a brick wall. I do have that census record that you shared Bert, but there is no other records for them. My Granddad is the Frank aged 10 in that record and he should have been on the 1991 census with Frank senior and Jane( Jenny) as he was born 7 Sept 1890 and they married 23 April 1890 ( I have both of these certificates) but cannot find any record at all of them in 1891.. I have found Jane(Jenny) on 1911 census as a widow and also found the two boys Frank jnr and Barry as boarders with an unrelated family in Wembly..... but that is all.
My Granddad Frank jnr was quite a famous footballer Frank "Bronco" Burton played for West Ham and Charlton and was always called a "Mexican born footballer" but it is not correct as I have his birth cert and he was born in Stockport. I wondered why everyone said that and when I found him and his brother Barry on 1911 census it cleary states born in Mexico by British parents!! A real mystery that even my Mum and her siblings could not answer. I figure that he possibly never corrected the misinformation as it probably enhanced his football career. I know Frank senior was supposed to be born in Southampton but have been unable to find anything about him either and on his and Jane's marriage cert it says his father was a Daniel Burton dec I havent taken that any further at this point as I thought if I could pinpoint Jane Whithead and family it my help to find more, as sometimes going sideways is helpful. So thank you all for your input so far, if you do have anything else it would be really great and I do appreciate all the help
