CORRY family of 108 Latimer Street, Liverpool

I'm trying to find more information about the CORRY family of 108 Latimer Street, Liverpool.

I found, in the 1871 Census, Alexander and Elizabeth Corry and their two sons Joseph (9) and James (4).

Alexander lists his place of birth as Edinburgh, Scotland while Elizabeth lists hers (and her two sons') as Ireland, Co. Monaghan.

His occupation is listed as Mariner, however I was unable to find any Master's Certificate etc. on FindMyPast.co.uk etc.

I'm trying to establish whether this family stayed in Liverpool or whether it's possible they migrated to South Africa.

Thanks again to everyone that assisted me with my previous enquiry (about a different family).

I'm afraid that there appears to be a great lack of mariners documents online, I have also been searching for some records without success. I wonder if you might have any luck if you were to contact the Maritime Museum?

Just a thought that the term 'mariner' includes all sorts of seafarers, not just master mariners.

FindMyPast, and consequently FamilySearch, have it as Moughan; it's quite clearly Monaghan in the image though.

Thanks Bert. Could you find any mention of them after 1871? Since he was from Scotland, she was from Ireland (and the kids were born there), I wonder if they were just passing through Liverpool. If they stayed in the area, they likely aren't the Corrys I'm looking for.

Unfortunately no sight of them at all.
