Not sure of where to look for a birth

I live in Australia and do not know where/which areas to be looking for records for a Liverpool birth c 1800. My ancestor was born around that time, native place Liverpool and I cannot find him. He lived in Bannister Street when he was convicted of Burglary, aged 21/22 when transported. John DICKROW b c 1800 transported 1821 arriving Van Diemens Land[Tasmania] in 1822. Fisherman by trade. Named his only child Thomas Richard DICKROW
I have found a Thomas DICKROW also born about 1800, married Jan 1821 then disappears, also a fisherman from Liverpool.
Can anyone please direct me to the best online places to search for these two gentS. Feel I have to find both to eliminate them being the same person.
i have access to Ancestry Library, but feel I need more U K sites
A.K.A. DUCKROW
Thanks in advance Cheers Patty

Liverpool.
Stephen Walcott pops up in the Slave Registers.

On FMP there is also a description of John Dickrow and I think it refers to a tattoo, Thomas Dickrow in Blue ?ink on hand?

I'm wondering if this surname was originally Decrow, Ducro, or Ducrow with French, possibly Huguenot roots. The surname appears in London and the south east of England. It could have come to Liverpool from London and the south east or via French or French Huguenot emigrants to America who sailed between America and Liverpool:-

That would be so interesting, wonder if our poster has thought of this ?

There are trees on Ancestry that have the spelling for the man who went to Australia as Ducrow he drowned in 1836 didn't he? Coincidently there was a John Ducrow who married an Eleanor Minter in Liverpool in 1829 perhaps a relation? This John Ducrow according to Ancestry trees was born in or around London c1796, died 1834 in London, son of John Peter Ducrow a Belgian "Strongman" performer and Margaret Ross. No Thomas listed among the children.

John Duckrow/Ducrow/Dickrow convict 261 married Ellen Halley/Harley/Haley in Van Diemens Land [Tasmania], they had one child Thomas Richard Duckrow/Ducrow who is my g.g.g grandfather. John drowned at Prime Seal Island off Flinders Island in 1836.
I am trying to prove/disprove that Thomas and John are the same person.
Thank you all for the added information you have given me.
I knew John had tattoos but had not found a description of them.

I found it with F M P search for Dickrow b c 1800 Liverpool Lancaster.
Came up with Thomas, first time Duckrow is mentioned there looks like a dot over the first loop of the u making it look like a i. The convict indent for John also have the same problem. But he is referred to as DUCKROW & DUCROE in other areas.

Hi "Bertieone" I had not seen that tat, and have now deciphered the writing as best I can, gives more information that the convict Indent does, that only mentions marks and figures on both arms. Sounds more than likely they are the same person. Can you please tell me exactly where you found it as I cannot find it on FMP . I would like to see the rest of the writing if possible.. Thank you

I have many variations of the name. Duckrow/Ducrow,Ducroe, Ducqro,Ducroix and many more. I am looking at this particular name, my 4 x grandfather, convict. i have most of his descendants but none of his ancestors. Tricky bunch to find. even considering a DNA option.
Cheers Patty

I have several variations on the name. including the above, Ducroe, Ducroix, du Crow and more. it is an unusual name with so many variants which did surprise me greatly when I began researching.
