The maternal ancestry of Florrie LANE (nee OGDEN) I hope!

Post by plimmerian »

I know for sure that Florrie LANE (nee OGDEN) died in 1982 and was born 13 Oct 1895 - her birth certificate gives her mother as Elizabeth Ann OGDEN (nee HOUGHTON); she died in 1929 and was buried in a family plot - her birth certificate (05 Mar 1863) gives the mother as Margaret HOUGHTON (nee STOCKTON); she died in 1894 and also buried in a family plot in Newton le Willows.

Now the focus switches to Warrington.

Margaret HOUGHTON (nee STOCKTON) of School Brow married Thomas HOUGHTON in 1862, her father as Thomas STOCKTON, sawyer. A baptism for Margaret indicates her mother was Ann and a marriage in 1825 of Thomas STOCKTON to Ann MOLYNEUX seems to fit her parents.

Now it gets tricky!

Ann STOCKTON (nee MOLYNEUX) died 09 Mar 1842 aged 36 and buried 13 Mar 1842 at St Elphin.
From other researchers it's been suggested that the baptism on 17 Jun 1804 at St Elphin, of Ann MOLYNEUX - Daur of Peter MOLYNEUX (a tailor) & Betty - is the same Ann.

Purely guesswork makes we suggest that the marriage on 31 Mar 1799 at St Elphin, of Peter MOLYNEUX to Betty HOLT (witnesses: Catharine JACKSON & Ireland ARROWSMITH) is the same Betty!

Again, not confident, I'm speculating the baptism on 04 Aug 1776 at St Elphin, of Betty HOLT - Daur of Roger HOLT (weaver) & Ann - is the same Betty.

This leads me to speculate that a marriage (found on ancestry) on 10 Oct 1772 at St Elphin, of Roger HOLT to Ann ARROWSMITH (see witness above) are the parents of Betty.

Is Ann HOLT (nee ARROWSMITH) the one buried on 22 Jun 1813 at St Elphin, aged 57 of Bag Lane and the daughter of Martha ARROWSMITH baptised on Baptism: ?? May 1756 at St Elphin?

Sorry to waffle but I'm not as confident researching this far back and would like your feed back!

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
