Who was Samuel Filkin?

I have a feeling this is going to be a surname mis-spelt but I can't find anything on this man despite doing all kinds of searches.

On 03 Mar 1839 at St James, Toxteth by Banns:

Samuel Filkin, full age, bachelor, labourer, father Samuel Filkin, dead.

marries

Rebecca Owen (nee Quick) widow, full age, father John Quick joiner.

http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/2197/ ... dit/record

On the 1841 census Rebecca Filkin is living with her parents with her young son from her previous marriage, William Owen. There is no sign of Samuel Filkin anywhere who would fit the bill not in 1841 or any censuses after that (Rebecca died in 1850). There is a possible death in the first Q 1841 in Fylde, maybe he was there for work and died?

I can't find any baptisms or any other trace of this man.

Who was he and where did he come from?

Thank you very much once again Bertie. :)

Last night I looked at other trees on Samuel and saw one tree had a daughter for him and Rebecca called Margarita, but I couldn't find her either on searches so I messaged the tree owner and asked him could he share the source and he sent me this:

Margarita Felken Gender: Female Birth: Aug 15 1839 Much Woolton Christening: Sep 1 1839 St Mary Woolton, Liverpool, Lancashire, England Father: Samuelis Felken Mother: Rebecca Quick Owen Felken Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C02426-4 System Origin: England-ODM GS Film number: 396373

So I'll add this today after I've found it in the register. What a sad life Rebecca had losing 2 husbands who were both young, then a baby then she died quite young herself.

I use the newspaper search in FMP and nothing came up that looked like the right Samuel Filkin, do you use BNA then Bertie?

So daughter Margaret was buried on 02 Mar 1841 and husband Samuel on 31 Mar 1841 both living in Fleetwood. No wonder Rebecca went home to mum and dad in Liverpool with little William.

No wonder,

I wonder if they both died with the same problem and Samuel lasted longer because of his age.

If certificates weren't so bloomin' expensive I would buy them right away, but they're not even my direct line so I can't justify spending £20 just out of curiousity.
