Walton Park Cemetery

Visited Walton Park Cemetery yesterday and spoke with Vic, whose help was very much appreciated, I was looking for two burial plots one for Phyllis E Lee who was buried in 1925 and the other was for John Luke Lee who was buried January 1884, I did look but as you said I probably wouldn't find the 1884 site. Have you been able to find out whether Phyllis' grave was under the housing estate?

Sorry Elaine but so far I am unable to find proof that Phyllis is buried at Walton Park.
She was born in first quarter of 1925 and died in fourth Quarter of same year by looks of it and although born as Phyllis 'E', is registered as Phyllis 'I' at her death it would appear.
Possibly a transcribers error but in any case I have not been able to find her in the W.P register for that quarter of that year so the only conclusion is that she is buried elsewhere.
There are no positive 'hits' on line for anything other than her GRO ref so I think some more 'hands on' research is required. In the case of the Birth registration the Mothers Maiden Name is given as "Travis".
Do you have any further info as to the family's religion as that may have some bearing on her possible grave site ?.
The more you can post here, the more we can try to help direct you as to where to look deeper.
My own cursory look through the register for 1884 indicates that John Luke is buried in a grave with at least 34 other children under the age of 7 and is most likely to be in the area I indicated to you when we met on Tuesday.

Thanks Vic. I think the family were mixed religion so I suppose it is possible but I think unlikely she was buried in a Catholic Cemetery but I will reseach further.

Just now most of the active forum members who could advise from similar experience are preparing for the WDYTYA Exhibition at the NEC this weekend but I suppose it might help if it was known where exactly she was pronounced dead, whether a Hospital or Workhouse, and then a search through the various 'closest' cemeteries at the LRO ?
My next move would be the death certificate which would reveal that and potentially the name of who reported it, but others may have better suggestions for you ?
Happy hunting, we have all been there and don't give up.

I have applied for her death certificate she died either at home or in hospital, my feeling is it was at home which would be in the Bootle area but as you say I will hopefully know more when I get the death certificate. I am not going to give up.

By all means come back and post your results on this thread and I am sure we shall all help you get to the bottom of it.
Obviously Ford is fave if R/C, and too early for Thornton.
That leaves Bootle,Everton & Kirkdale as closest but others may advise differently.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to say that, as Vic says, if the entry isn't in the Register, which appears quite completely available on Ancestry for that date, then the burial won't have taken place at Walton Park.

I think Bootle, to be quite likely if the death occurred in that area and these records are held at Thornton Garden of Rest, the staff there are very helpful if you give them a ring. 0151 924 5143.

Good luck
