Melling graves

Does anyone know anything about Melling (by Maghull) graves? Does the churchyard have many 18th or 19th century graves or have they been cleared? I've looked on Google maps and there appear to be some graves round the church but it's difficult to see how many. ( I've no idea whether my ancestors had gravestones but they lived there.
I'd be very grateful for any local knowledge as I've not visited.

I have not been to Melling either, but this family history society sells a CD of Monumental Inscriptions 1670 to 1979. I have that CD, which cost less than £10, so if you would like me to check if there is a specific stone on it, I could do so.

Thank you very much for your replies. I had already looked at the OPC burials and I know there are a few of my Rushtons buried there. I didn't know about the CD but I'll buy it if there are any gravestones for Rushton on it, so thanks for your offer, Lynne; would you mind having a look, in particular David Rushton, Aug 1826 aged 30?

Right Got it partly working, but the search does not work. 1/2 way through and the only Rushton found so far is
346
Burial place of William Rushton
Burial place of James Rushton of Everton.
Will carry on later.
Have also found
358 Jane daughter of William and Mary Rushton died 29 of Octo 1801 aged 5.
There are lots of others of young children on this stone finishing with
William Rushton died Sep 21 1837 aged 85 years.
I can copy the rest out if you think they are relevant.

Thank you very much for going to all this trouble, Lynne. Glad you got your computer working properly. There are plenty of Rushtons in there, so it's really helpful. I think it's got to be worth getting the CD and a visit to the graveyard sometime. I love the possible fine for opening the grave - I have been warned! It does make you wonder what had gone on!

That is it , Laura. When you visit, leave your spade at home

or take your cheque book

It might be worth contacting the parish secretary or priest as they will be able to tell you were the graves are situated.
