I am trying to find my cousin and I have found the death of his mother Margaret Nancy Mitchell, born c 1913 and lived most of her life in Liverpool. She was known as Nancy and lived in Silvester Street and then Selwyn Road. She did spend a very short period of time in York, but her husband died suddenly so she returned to Liverpool.
I think the death for her is Sep 2002 aged 89. Registered Liverpool. E31D/ o251E/ 157
What I am asking for help with is who registered the death and what were the addresses??
Can any help with this? Can you look them up in the record office? If so I would be very grateful
Thanks Lynne

Hi Lynne
You can't look up death register entries you need to purchase the death certificate. You can sometimes find recent death notices on http://www.bmdsonline.co.uk but it doesn't appear to go back to 2002. I can only see one Margaret Nancy Mitchell in the death indexes so it looks like it could be the person you are looking for.

You might be interested in the details we have put together about what can and can't be looked up in a Record Office, tips here https://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ ... =25&t=6937
The easiest thing to look up at the Record Office, is an obituary, the majority of funerals are entered in the Family Notices and the entries might be very helpful giving names of family members and where the burial/cremation took place.
The Liverpool Echo does publish notices online but unfortunately I checked and they don't seem to go that far back, pity.

Thanks for that both. I will wait till after Christmas and then send for the certificate. Unless they are likely to be on line soon. Thanks again.

Yes, Gibson. We were very close families as children as they had a son around my age who was an only child and days out , usually to New Brighton, were together.

Yes Blue. But as my mum used to say" Better to travel in hope than stay at home"
