Widnes Newspapers for WW1 Period

What would be the local newspapers for the Widnes area during WW1. I am looking for Family notices for the three Alty brothers, Robert James in 1917, Peter Edward in 1918 and Edward also in 1918 and their cousin Vincent Merrick in 1915. I have their family details and CWGC records and service records where available but would like to check if any notices were put in local newspapers.
I have checked FMP for the Liverpool papers but nothing showing. Can I gain access anywhere else for more local papers?
Eileen

Katie has indexed many Soldiers from Liverpool, but I believe some from the Prescot area too which might cover your men. I'm sure she will check her databases for you.

Thanks Katie for the information I didn't know that Robert James had died as a POW so that was news for me. My interest in the Alty family stem from the fact that my Grandmother's younger sister was adopted by a member of the Alty family and is shown on the 1901 and 1911 Census with them in Litherland. I have yet to find a family link with the Alty's and don't know why they adopted her when her mother died. She was only 3 years old but my Grandmother and her elder brother were sent to live with a Great Aunt in Preston.
Vincent Merrick was their cousin and was living with his Aunt Cecilia Alty in 1911 after the death of both his parents.
I will try to get to see the copies of the Garston and Woolton Weekly news.
Thanks again
Eileen
