Hi Guys

I am searching the the births and marriage of William Kelly and Lillian Mary DeBruin. DeBruin is of Dutch origin.

I do know that the couple had a child, Frances Kelly, who was born in Liverpool in 1936 and passed away in 2013.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Frank

Sorry, but that should have been Kelly, not Kelley.

Wish it was Kelley, to make it a little less common. From that you can take it I've not had much luck yet, but just to let you know I'm looking.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to have a look for me. Obviously, I am taking the De Bruin spelling from Frances Kelly's birth registration, which has been confirmed as correct.

Fingers crossed.

Frank

Yes, thanks Ann, it does look like a possibility. However, as far as my friend's husband is aware , he always knew the husband as William, not James. He is going to speak to his wife later to confirm the surname spelling and husband's name and text me back tomorrow.

Watch this space.

Frank

Morning Everyone,

Many thanks for your input. It is much appreciated I haven't heard back yet this morning from my friend regarding the spelling of the mother's surname and the husband's first name but it is looking more and more likely that the misspelling on Frances' birth registration through me off the scent somewhat.

Bert/Hilary : I will check if Frances had any siblings and get back to you as well as asking if the mother remarried.

Ann: I did spot that birth but dismissed it as my friend's husband was insistent that the husband's name was simply William. .

Will keep you all posted.

Regards
Frank

Afternoon Guys,

I passed on your input to my friend, who confirmed that all the data collected is correct, so once again, many thanks for all your sterling effort.

As an aside, what are the chances of locating the birth father of an illegitimate child? The child was born in Everton in 1877 and was living with a different family as a boarderer on the 1881 census.

Regards
Frank

God loves a trier, Frank

Who knows what might show up in later records, though if he's mentioned on a marriage cert, he may be made up to save embarrassment, no harm in trying.

I've recently found unusual middle names in a child, then turns out the mother was working for a man with just those names, in the middle 1850's so I can only assume, does yours have any unusual names?

Even with DNA tests it would depend on everybody else in the lineage being honest and no other byeblows coming in between, can you believe them all?

Hi Mary,

Yes, I had a similar experience. My my grandfather was registered as Frank Lewis John Harley Forrester and this is the only document we have on which the names john Harley appear. There were 2 possible 'suspects in the frame, but we can't prove which was his father.

The child's name was given as John C.E.L. Doysey. I have searched for the surname on Freebmd but it gave me an error message basically saying it was an incorrect name.

This is were he was living in 1881.

Name: John C.E.L. Doysey
Age: 4
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1877
Relationship to Head: Boarder
Gender: Male
Where born: Liverpool
Civil Parish: West Derby
County/Island: Lancashire
Country: England
Street address: 13 Houlton St
Education:

Employment status:

Folio: 75
Page Number: 10
Household Members:
Name Age
Robert Beldham 49
Emma J. Beldham 46
Mary Roach 45
John C.E.L. Doysey 4

The adults were both born in Portsea. and married there in 1861. They appear to have been childless throughout. John has disappeared by the 1891 census and does not appear in any other.

Cheers
Frank

John Clarence Ernest Lloyd Dowey married Mary Hannah Sharp 28 Dec 1904 at Christchurch Kensington Liverpool (marriage available on Ancestry) father stated as John Lloyd but the vicar has crossed this out because he was illegitimate but it would imply that John knew who his father was.

If this is the correct person there is a tree for him on Ancestry.
