Can anyone please help with a street name from the 1851 census. It could be Clover or Dover Street, and must have been close to Rose Vale.

Plover or Peover Street? Between Comus Street and Rose Hill? An 1864 map says Plover, a 1900s map says Peover.

Thanks for that, I think you must be right, though the writing tells me otherwise!
If you are interested enough, the reference is HO107/2189/7 - Joseph Gregson at no. 26.

Hi daggers
Not sure that Blue had the right area as hers was Rose Hill.? ( Sorry Blue, not meaning to be rude, you are amazing with your maps

)
Have looked at 1851 census and compared the writing. Dover Street I think as the way the enumerator writes D in daughter is the same and I found a Caroline and the C looks very different.
There was also a Robert Daglish on the page I was looking at

I think definitely DOVER Street.. Check out a resident name David on the next summary page [6], and the D for daughters in gender columns.

It does look like Dover Street. It appears that the name of this street was changed from Dover Street to Dorrington Street. See link below:-

Good idea to check the Enumeration District as it often seems to have been written more legibly.

Thanks very much for all contributions - the maps are always welcome.
I will go along with 'Dover' as the street name. It would be good if we could know why certain names were chosen and some were changed. A great project for someone...
Erika - well spotted: that was the name that led me to that street, but I found it did not always come up in the search via Anc. He is a mystery still, but I now have him in the long ' to do' list.
