Alkali Works, Widnes

I have hit a brick wall with one of my ancestors. One of the few things I do know about him is that he lived in Widnes in 1891 and was a foreman at an alkali works. His name is George Stanley.
Does anyone know if there are any records extant for the alkali works that might help to give me a bit more information?
Thanks for your help.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have asked somebody local to Widnes if she can pop in and make a suggestion as to whether there may be any records and their whereabouts. In the meantime have you tried checking newspapers to see if there is any mention of him or the family?

If you don't have access to old newspapers online, we have a list of locations of various holdings in local libraries http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... =16&t=8300

Hope some of these help.

Hi Judestan,

I have asked a contact with a vast knowledge of the history of Widnes about any records from the alkali works. I will let you know as soon as I can.
