I was just wondering if there where any records kept of where evacuated children went to during the war, my mother and uncle just remember "Wales"

If you know what school they went to and they were evacuated with their school, there might be information in school log books.

For deceased relations only the 1939 Register can be useful in locating where evacuees were living in September 1939. I managed to get my uncle's details he was an evacuee in Wales:-

I would concentrate on researching 'colomendy'

Merseyside children were evacuated to various places in north Wales and elsewhere. My uncle went to live in Gwynedd (north west Wales). Here are some evacuee accounts from the BBC website:-

Thanks for the links everyone, its been fascinating reading the stories it must have been a harrowing time for both children and mothers.
As for my mother and her siblings between them they now remember they were evacuated to Abergele, to a farmer by the name of Jones (what else) The one thing my uncle says he will never forget was that Mr Jones had a hook for a hand and used to chase them round the farmyard, scaring them silly. It seems though they were well looked after and enjoyed life on the farm.
