Hi :D

I have an ancestor recorded on the 1861 census, at the age of 73, as a 'monthly nurse'..
Have seen many a time, nurse, nursemaid, midwife... but this is the first I've seen this one...anyone else seen or heard it? :? :?

Thanks

Simone :D

Hi Simone,

If you have Anc and do an 1881 search, in the Keyword section enter, Monthly Nurse, many will come up, thousands I imagine.

A carer of a new mother and baby.

Hi Simone, my Ed's grandma was a monthly nurse, they helped the mother during the "lying in"..
Not allowed to get up to soon back then.
