Hi

I have an ancestor recorded on the 1861 census, at the age of 73, as a 'monthly nurse'..
Have seen many a time, nurse, nursemaid, midwife... but this is the first I've seen this one...anyone else seen or heard it?

Hi Simone,

If you have Anc and do an 1881 search, in the Keyword section enter, Monthly Nurse, many will come up, thousands I imagine.

Hi Simone, my Ed's grandma was a monthly nurse, they helped the mother during the "lying in"..
Not allowed to get up to soon back then.
