Hi and welcome to the forum. We have a list of directories held by our members
http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... 16&t=13794 but unfortunately the nearest date to that you are looking for appears to be about 1881 but you are able to search the 1881 census, for free online for that date which would probably be just as good.
The alternative would be to try the Historical Directories online
http://cdm16445.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ ... 16445coll4
I notice that you live in Cheshire, the Liverpool Record Office will hold directories for many more years, but it's possible that the Cheshire Archives might also hold a set.

Hi. I have just joined the forum to follow the enquiry posted in June 2014 by Mamabear concerning 7 Schomberg Street, West Derby, Liverpool. I too have an interest in this address which has recently come to my attention as I research my family history. I am interested in the occupants at the time of the 1871 census and wonder if any member has any further information.
Many thanks.

What sort of information are looking for? Is it the family or the location they were living in that you are interested in? There are trees for this family on Ancestry. The parents William Kneen and Jane Rowan married at St Anne CE Liverpool on 8 Feb 1841. It appears to have been a mixed marriage as after at least one CE baptism four of the children, John, Thomas Andrew, William Henry and Eliz Ann were all baptised at St Joseph RC Liverpool on 22 Apr 1850. A daughter called Jane was born Jan/Feb/Mar 1850 but I can't find the baptism. Further children were baptised RC:-
Name: Joseph Kneen

Hi Blue,
Many thanks for your reply. It is the family I am interested in as my great grandfather was George Kneen, a shipping clerk from Liverpool. I am trying to establish the correct George and trace my roots back to the Isle of Man. I will check out the leads you have given me, and very many thanks again.

Hi Blue,
That's the one - thank you so much for the additional information - I will follow up the census info. You have been most helpful.
I am still wondering if Mamabear's interest in the Liverpool address is related to the Kneen family or the property itself.
Many thanks again for the help.
Regards. Billy

Billy,
mamabear2 has a tree on Ancestry, though I think its private.
She last logged in yesterday, she possibly has a connection to the family, having made a correction to the family name on the 1851 census, in April this year.

William and Jane's marriage in Liverpool in 1841
The father's details here should be helpful in researching the Manx roots. Some of the online trees name Ballaugh as William's parish of origin on the island and Ann Cowen/Cowin as his mother but I haven't found any proof yet in the form of a baptism.

Research on the Manx Roots of this Kneen family over on the Isle of Man Message Board suggests that William's baptism has never been found but there is evidence to suggest that he was from Ballaugh, Isle of Man including mention of a son called William in the will of one of his suggested parents. Have a read of this thread:-

The original poster didn't become a member of the Society nor remain a member of the forum so Bert's suggestion of making contact via Ancestry will be your best bet. Good luck.
