Menzies Street, Toxteth Park

I am not familiar with Liverpool so please excuse me if I am posting this in the wrong forum.

After much searching I found Menzies Street on an old map and see that a large block that included this street and many others was demolished and redeveloped with most of the old street names disappearing.

My query relates to the 1871 census where I have found Francis Birkitt as Matron of House of Rest. It is the next part of the occupation that I cannot read and I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help me. It starts as 'a Home for ????" the last word I can't decipher.

I would also be interested to hear if anyone knows anything about this place.

Thank you Bertieone, firstly for the welcome and secondly for the information.
Of course, 'incurables' makes complete sense and I really feel quite daft for not having thought of it. Thanks also for the link to the museum website which gives such an excellent explanation of the purpose for the home.
Your help very much appreciated.
