Proxiity of Gordon Street/Latimer Buildings

Looking for James BLAIR (my GG Grandfather) in the 1871 Census.
I've found his wife, Margaret BLAIR living at 4 Latimer Buildings, with her daughter Margaret and her father William GILFORD (Ref RG10 / P3762 / F55 / Page 39), but no sign of the husband James.
I found a potential James BLAIR as a visitor at 49 Gordon Street (Ref RG10 / P3814 / F70 / Page 20) - although his name has been transcribed as James BLAIN
This James BLAIR does appear to tick most boxes. Born around 1844 in Scotland, and I don't think it's too much of a leap from being a carpenter to an engineer (as he was in later Census returns).
What I want to know is how close was Gordon Street to Latimer Buildings in 1871? They both appear in the parish of Everton, but were they really that close?
It looks like the James BLAIR that I'm seeking, but, as always, there's that 'niggle' in the back of my mind.
