Help finding marriage record at St Peter's CoE Church

As i'm not back in Liverpool for a few weeks, i was hoping someone could have a look through the CoE records for me if you get chance at the record office.

I'm looking for details of the marriage of Michael McDonough and Catherine Ann Clancy on the 25th December 1903 in St. Peter's Chruch. Can't find any records for this year online on ancestry or Lan-Opc. If anyone can help that would be great.

I'm also struggling to find any details for my ancestor who was born Apr 1855. Her name is Elizabeth Saunders and was born to a Jane Saunders at Brownlow Workhouse. No father is mentioned on the certificate. I was wondering if I was to look at the workhouse records for this year it might give more details about the mother Jane.

Any thoughts?

Dan

Can you give Elizabeth's location in the 1861 census with the summary page reference to make it easier to find? And, if she is an ancestor, where is she in 1871?

Hi D.S I don't think they were found in the 1861 census, just the birth rego.

Unfortunately I don't have any details until 1881 census.

She's living with her husband Samuel Grayson. I can't find a marriage for them either.

For the crew...
1881: RG11 Piece: 3659 Folio: 116 Page: 22
Address: 30 Robsart St, Everton, Liverpool
GRAYSON, Samuel J Head 27 1854 Carter - L'pool
GRAYSON, Elizabeth Wife 25 1856 - L'pool
GRAYSON, Samuel Son 3 1878 - L'pool
ROBERTS, Elizabeth G.mother Widow 65 1816 Charwoman - L'pool

Do you have the birth certificate for their son Samuel bn 1878 confirming the mother's maiden name?
Probably this birth:
GRAYSON, Samuel
Registration district: Liverpool
Year of registration: 1878; Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 50

It isn't this birth...
GRAYSON, Samuel Benjamin
Registration district: West Derby
Year of registration: 1878; Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 66

Because.....
Death: GRAYSON, Samuel Benjamin
Registration district: West Derby
Year of registration: 1879; Quarter of registration: Apr-May-Jun
Age at death: 1
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 353

And sadly the other Samuel died soon after the census...
GRAYSON, Samuel

Year of registration: 1881; Quarter of registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at death: 3

My Samuel Grayson born 1878 didn't die in 1881, he lived into the 20th century.

In the 1892 census, the family are listed as the Sunders family (the mothers maiden name).

I don't have the birth cert for Samuel Grayson but do have it for his sister Mary Ann Grayson and her mothers maiden name is Saunders.

I've tried figuring out a connection to the Elizabeth Roberts (grand mother) in the 1881 census but can't create a connection.

There were only two Samuel Grayson births registered between 1878 and 1880 in Liverpool, and both had died by the Sept qtr of 1881.

However, the son Samuel in 1891 is Samuel J bn 1881,
Births Sep 1881: GRAYSON, Samuel John - W. Derby 8b 324
So I would tend to believe their first son Samuel did die and Samuel John was named for him.

My mistake. You're absolutely right. Just goes to show how useful it is when another set of eyes has a look in.

Thank you!!

I know that feeling well. Happened to/for me more than once. :D

Now, back to Elizabeth Saunders bn to Jane Saunders in 1855. Is this the registration?
Births Jun 1855: Saunders, Elizabeth - Liverpool 8b 175

It's the only such named birth in Liverpool between 1854 and 1856. So I am puzzled to find an 1861 census entry which appears to be her with a Saunders family and no sign of a Jane....

SAUNDERS, John Head 37 1824 Labourer Foundry - Prescott

SAUNDERS, Robert Son 12 1849 Errand Boy - Liverpool
SAUNDERS, Elizabeth Dtr 6 1855 - Liverpool
SAUNDERS, Ann Dtr 3 1858 - Liverpool

LOVELL, Elizabeth Lodger Widow 44 1817 Sempstress - Kendal(?)
LOVELL, Mary Anne Daughter 9 1852 Scholar - Dublin

If those workhouse records exist it they might show Janes's age and where she was from. I'd post a separate topic asking for an SKP to have a look-see in the Record Office.

Sorry, but what's an SKP? Am I allowed to post a copy of the birth cert here?

The problem for me is that no marriage cert exists for Elizabeth Saunders and Samuel Grayson. Their first child was born 1878 so it would have been around that time. The nearest i can find is the marriage of Samuel John Grayson to Prudence Sanders in St Peters church in 1884. I thought perhaps Prudence was another name for Elizabeth, but then i realised Prudence also had a sister called Elizabeth so that wasn't the case.

1) SKP = Some kind person :D

2) No problem posting a scanned image. In the case of a BMD cert just make sure it is horizontal. Here's how to use Photobucket, a free image hosting website, to put images on this forum...

If you are not already a member click on http://photobucket.com/ or paste it into your browser and join the site.

Scan the relevant document in highest resolution you can manage. Make sure it is a reasonable size and is correctly orientated [not sideways or upside down!]. If you have a query with only part of the image, a name, date or signature, etc, you should crop the image to show only the part that is being queried. If you don't have a cropping tool there is one on the Photobucket site.

Follow the on-screen instruction to upload your scan image to the site. Save the image to your 'Album'. If you need to work on the image there is a Media Options box on the right of screen. Select the required option and don't forget to Save when you have finished.

When you run the mouse over your finished image a short drop-down menu [Links to share this photo] will open on the right. Left-click on the Direct option in that menu. The URL box will turn yellow, with the word Copied.

Now go to the 'Post a reply' box on the forum topic or create a new Topic if necessary. Write your message then page down a line. Place the cursor at the left of the message window, right-click the mouse and select Paste. This will enable you to paste the URL that you copied from Photobucket into your message. The image will not immediately appear. It comes up when you click Preview before you submit your message or click Submit to post the message.

The reason there is no record of this marriage online is because this year and a number of others have not been filmed. You will need to view the register in the Archives when you visit Liverpool - remember to email them ahead of time and give at least 24 hours notice.
