Birth Certificate - address code?

On a 1930 birth certificate, the address is given as 'Rock Mount North' and underneath is added 'MO'. The road was near St Oswald Street in the Old Swan area according to an old map, but does not now exist, as far as I can trace.

Can anyone please explain the 'MO' which may be some code used by the Registrar?

Could it indicate it is the MOther's address as opposed to the father's address?

It'll be the district code it usually says UD.

Thanks for both replies. I think the area is more likely and will try to get confirmation from the current registrar's office.

Do let us know, particularly if they have more location codes as we mainly are only aware of UD.

Suspense! I called at the Registrar's office today. They could not answer at once and suggested I telephone later. I did, but still no explanation. They will ring me 'within 24 hours'. I hope it is not an all-night service!

Ha ha!
The Registrar's office have just told me that what appeared to be 'MO' is probably 'MD', for Municipal District. As Mary said, UD is quite commonly found, and I have 'RD' [Rural District] and 'USD' [Urban Sanitary District, Wavertree, 1887] on certs in my file. Any others?
