Hi Listers,

Findmypast has recently published the Manchester Rate Books. I am interested in how I may find the Nineteenth Century Rate Books for Clayton Square, Liverpool, and if I need to request copies what code would they be under? I tried the online archive catalogue, but, failed to find them. Please help? Thankyou for your time and patience.

The online catalogue is not the best reference that it should be, many of us have difficulties in finding what we need from it.

The easiest way is to send an email direct to the Liverpool Record Office and ask them, also asking whether they are in document form, as I suspect they will be if they have them, and so you could order them for a date convenient for you to visit.

Thankyou, Mary. I have done as you suggested. It is a project for the New Year. I wish you a good one and a great Christmas, and the same to.all that have helped me on this list.

And to you too Paul, and good luck with your researches, it's usually so much more interesting when you can leave the censuses behind and find alternate documents.
