Married Catherine Jane Kelly, father; Robert.
Children.
Jane born 29.10.1854

Hi Leanne,
An Administrator will shortly move your post to the Liverpool & South West Lancashire Family History sub-forum I am sure, where it will get a wider audience.
Not sure what it is you want to know about that Howard family. Do you want to go back in time or come forward? And what else do you now about them already?

Hi Leanne,
I found Charles & Catherine on the 1881 Census under the surname McWilliam at 3 Copeland Street, Everton, Liverpool. They are with daughter Jane who married Matthew Malkin, a Lithographic Printer. They married in 1880 at St Ambrose, Everton, Liverpool. I cannot locate any of these folk on subsequent Census's.
Charles Rowatt McMillan was a Merchant Navy Shipwright/Carpenter born in 1829 (according to a BT113 Seaman's record on FindMyPast), and first went to sea in 1851. As you know he married a Catherine Jane Kelly in 1852 - if you have the certificate, who are the witnesses?
Regarding the McMillan surname, I happen to have two McMillan daughters, both General Domestic Servants, on a 1911 Census at 224 Marsh Lane, Bootle, Liverpool. This is the household of a Nathaniel Wood and wife Sarah nee Buchanan. Nathaniel is the son of Richard Wood and Sarah Dillicate by her first marriage; Sarah is the daughter of William Dillicate and Hannah Pirtt. The two McMillan daughters are: Elizabeth Margaret McMillan servant/single 22 General Servant Domestic B Liverpool Lanc; Mary May McMillan servant/single 17 General Servant Domestic B Liverpool Lanc. They are the daughters of Alexander McMillan B Scotland who M Ellen Marsh AMJ 1885 West Derby 8b 686, all living at 1901 Census: 68 Luther Street, Everton, Liverpool. I have not yet found any connection with your Charles McMillan, if there is one.
Best wishes,
Paul.

I found the Malkin family on the 1900 US Census, in Cook County, Illinois, along with six children (four born in the US). Also with them is Catherine J McMillan, a widow then, born England, indicating that both parents where born in the Isle of Man.
They probably all emigrated to the US in 1887. I suspect Charles R McMillan was also with them, but died over there.
Best wishes,Paul.

Hi Paul
Sorry just sent a reply off on way to work this am. Marriage cert. has witness's listed as Thomas Jones (signed)and Mary Ann Mc Corquodale(mark)
Happy to send you copy. Charles from park lane, shipwrights, father; Peter McMillan, mariner. Catherine as Spinster from Frederick street, father: Robert. Shoemaker. 8th June 1852. Had children listed as Jane and Charles. Remainder as you found. If we are tracing same family happy to send info on Sarah (marriage cert + burial info etc) and small amount on Mary. Have been unable to find anything on John and Margaret and Phillip. Hence messages. Happy to scan cert.'s etc and post to you.

Hi Leanne,
Yes please if you could scan and private email me Catherine & Sarah's marriage certs, that would be great, thanks.
I think I found Catherine McMillan's death on FamilySearch in 1901, died aged 70 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; so born about 1831 which seems about right ...
Jones's seem to pop up on my tree quite often. Catherine Delicate/Dillicate married a James Jones in 1808 Manchester; she was a sister of William Dillicate who (should have) married Hannah Pirtt. An Eliza Jane Jones married John Kelly in 1879 Liverpool; he was the son of Edward kelly who married Elizabeth Dillicate, and Elizabeth would be Catherine's neice, I think!
Paul.
