Anyone out there researching the D'arcy family, who resided in Rock Street West Derby Lancs. Philip and Elizabeth D'arcy were the head of the family and went on to have 15 children, 10 daughters and 5 sons and I'm led to believe 2 daughters died, one aged two not sure what age the 2nd daughter was on her death and 4 of her 5 sons were lost to WW1 although I don’t think the latter info is correct. I have tried to find Rock Street as I think I have a photo of the old house, but I think the street may have been demolished as I'm unable to find any information on it. I also have a group photo of the family (15 in all including Elizabeth and Philip) taken about 1905 or there about. Any info about them would be appreciated and I’m happy to share anything I have on them.

Just after 1910, this family appears to have been living in 15 Rock Street, Old Swan, Philip age 68 was a casual labourer in a destructing yard and was born in Oldcastle, Co. Meath, Ireland. Wife Elizabeth 69, born Woolton, Liverpool, sons Philip 33 and Robert 27 were bricklayers, William 23 was a Casual Labourer and Agnes 35 were all born Liverpool.

If you use https://maps.google.co.uk/ you will see that Rock Street is still there, in Old Swan, although many of the houses look new you will be able to zoom in to streetview and see those in neighbouring streets that will look similar to what Rock Street used to be.

Unfortunately you omitted any dates, YoBs etc. So is this the D'Arcy family in 1901?

Rock Street appears to have been in the Stoneycroft/Old Swan area of Liverpool. The enumerator's list for 1910+1 indicates it was close to Mill Lane and Montague Road. Still looking for it!

It is still there marked on modern maps.

Thank you Dickiesam, new to this so hoping I'm answere this correctly. I'm aware of the family up to 1911 census, but little info after that. I know Elizabeth died in 1914 and Philip 1920 William died 1916 I think WW1 but can't trace the other sons that were supposed to have died in WW1. a philip darcy died serving and I know he was Francis and Maria's son. But I dont what happend to Thomas or Robert.

Thank you Bert, first time I've found any reference to it in past tense. In the early census they are living in Rock Mount North then later it became just Rock Street, Philip lived there from 1865 up to his death in 1920

Hi all, thank you so much for all your help. it appears one of the brothers not four died in WW1 Two lived into their 70's by the looks of it and one died outside a public house at age 34/38ish not sure why Robert died so young though, possibly Spanish Flu as suggested. Just wonder why it has passed down the family that 4 were lost to the great war?
