Long time since I posted. A small puzzle re above marriage.

Family Search and Lancs BMD both have it as Nov. 7, 1869 at St. Peter, Liverpool. My wife and I have Ancestry but cannot find the marriage details. Is it because there are gaps in the registers? I even have (sofar) one of their children's birth details - Susan Hodgson born Oct 28, 1870. I also have them in the 1871 census - haven't looked any further so far.

Ancestry doesn't have records for Liverpool St Peter between 1845 and 1906, if you go to the 'browse collection' option it shows you which years are available.

Thanks Amanda. I take it that it is the marriage registers which are not available - I've managed to get the birth registers for all six children between 1866 and 1877, all baptised at St. Peter.

Hi Ken,
Unfortunately, in the absence of the St Peter's records, the only way to find out what is on the marriage register is to buy the marriage cert from the GRO for £9.25.

The missing years are in document form in the Liverpool Record Office, email to book and give them 24 hours notice.

Bit difficult where I am at the moment Mary! I think Dickiesam is right. I don't know if I really need it that much.....thanks to everyone who looked anyway.

Ancestry have them, they just haven't indexed them yet. The manager of the Record office have been onto Ancestry to make them aware of this fact of records missing. I suppose its a case of the have to many indexes to compile for inclusion in their databases. I'll as the Manager for an update on this.

Oooh well worth waiting then, pity they haven't uploaded them for browsing while waiting indexing.
