Sefton House

Would anyone know the location of Sefton House?
In the 1891 Census the Head was Dashper Edward Glynn, a ship owner, his family and servants, and the address on the census is 48 Ullet Road. The address following this in the census is Croxteth Gate.
When I look on Google Maps the street number I enter shows up as a different street number on Google maps, so its confusing as to which property it is.
I am interested to know whether its a private house or an institution/business.
My great grand aunt was a servant here in 1891, and I am interested to have a look when I come over in August.

A large scale Ordnance Survey map of 1908 shows Sefton House alongside Croxteth Gate. The latter is a short stretch of road linking Ullet Road to Croxteth Drive - part of the perimeter of Sefton Park. Almost facing Sefton House was a large Presbyterian church which has been demolished and replaced by apartments.
I think Sefton House itself has gone, too. I will have a look and report back.
If you send me a PM [personal message] with your email address I will send you an image.

If you can Google maps in UK, look for Croxteth Road, Liverpool L8 then navigate to its junction with Ullet Road.
Sefton House is visible in the image version, looking just as it appeared in the 1908 map. It is not named but is a large house in its own grounds, to the left of the traffic island marked 'Croxteth Drive', which should be the old Croxteth Gate.

Hi Suzy,
1911 Gore's directory has
48 Ullet Road Edward Whitley
50 Ullet Road Glynn Dashper Ship owner "Sefton House"
A lot of the houses in that area are very big houses, a lot are converted into flats etc.

In the census the same year as the directory, Mr Glynn is at Sefton House, he is listed under Dashper Edward Glynn. He died in 1918 at the same address.

Hi SuzyEmm - This is a long shot, at four years' distance. My grandmother was one of the servants at Sefton House in 1891. She was Jane Rudkin, housemaid, aged 22. I found your note and wondered - which one was your ancestor? Are we related, even?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I am surprised that Suzyemm didn't reply to the findings of our crew, however as she is still a member of the forum, hopefully she will receive notification that you have posted on this message and pop along to answer you.
