Hi Mel
I believe the mother Emma of Richard (witness) and Edith came from the I.O.M
Pursue later.
Why did they say they had been married for 2 yrs on 1911 census??
Defacto??
Wm Edwd Fleming still alive?
It's a puzzle for sure.

I have been looking at a few things for 14 Vickers Street, I checked the 1901 census to see if the Taylor's or Young's were there in 1901, but they were not there.

I found a burial reg on the Toxteth cem indexes 15th Jan 1911 Annie Young age 28 wife - address 14 Vickers Street.

1911 census,
Edie Taylor is Edith Flemming nee Young, Albert and Edie have a son born out of wedlock, to avoid embarrassment they declare they have been married 2 years, they marry 2 years later and Edith uses her birth name of Young instead of Flemming, providing she did marry William Flemming in 1903, if she did and then remarries as a spinster, Hmmmm.

FreeBMD shows a death for an Edith Taylor aged 34 in Q4 1915 (Toxteth Park, 8b, 268)

Liverpool History Projects site has a burial for an Edith Taylor in 1915 at Allerton Cemetery.

Just reading up on the latest input. Thank you Jan, Bertie and Alison.
Good post this one.
Eveline niece from 1911 census could be the widowed Richard's daughter, he may have been at sea?

Thanks Tina,

I am wondering if the little girl Eveline is actually Emmeline Young. there is a baptism 1906 for an Emmalina (mispelt) at St John the baptist father's name Richard (seaman) mother Ellen.

I can't find an Emmeline Young on the 1911

There is a marriage for Emmeline Young 1929 - Albert Edward Horne

Thanks Jan, good find for the baptism.
I guess a first name like this will have many variations.
Mother as Ellen not Agnes 1906
Can't read the street name in Tockie

Edith Young's baptism is on ancestry Toxteth St James 8th Oct 1882 father Richard Mariner mother Emma address 9 Vickers Street.

The family are in Avison Street 1891 there is also a Sidney Young and a sister Emma, Sidney's baptism is also on ancestry 1889 Toxteth Holy Trinity, father Richard, mother Emma address 16 Avison Street. They are at 18 Avison Street 1901.

Richard and Emma didn't marry until 1878, and the daughter Emma is born abt 1873/4.

Now this gets a bit complicated!

Emma the daughter marries under surname Cain to Joseph Rock, St Peter's Liverpool 1893, (details on familysearch.org) gives her father's name as Robert Cain. Emma has a son Ernest Rock born 1897.

Emma Rock then marries in 1909 to Walter Richardson Jennings Toxteth St James, and then gives her father's name as Richard Young!

Address for both Upper Stanhope Street.
