As Bert asked, could you tell us some dates, place and YoBs? And what is it you want to know? There were two deaths of a John McDonald in Liverpool in 1928. Which one is your John?
Deaths Mar 1928: McDonald, John - 67 - W.Derby - 8b - 450.
Deaths Jun 1928: McDonald, John - 71 - Liverpool - 8b - 232

Could be wrong but I believe it is probably the second one because Garston had been part of the Liverpool Registry District since 1922.

In the last census, [1910 + 1], the residents at #8 Wellington Street, Garston, were Walter Hodgson, a retired policeman aged 58, with his wife Isabella and son Hugh.

Ancestry has this family in 1911 transcribed as Mardonald. The writing looks more like Macdonald. They were living at number 6 Wellington Street Garston and had moved about a bit over the years.

Incidently a Liverpool directory compiled in 1937 has Miss Eliz McDonald at number 8 Wellington Street Garston.

John and Mary married in Pontefract, West Yorkshire in 1877, they had 12 children living (only some of their children were living with them in 1911) and 1 was deceased:-

Macdonald, John, Head, born about 1857, Dock Labourer, Liverpool Lancashire
Macdonald, Mary, Wife, born about 1858, Birkenhead Cheshire
Macdonald, William, Son, Widower, born about 1880, Labourer, Saddleworth Yorkshire
Macdonald, Mary, Daughter, born about 1887, Factory Hand, Ardsley Yorkshre
Macdonald, Hannah, Daughter, born about 1888, Domestic Servant, Ardsley Yorkshire
Macdonald, Kitty, Daughter, born about 1889, Domestic Servant, Ardsley Yorkshire
Macdonald, Tom, Son, born about 1895, Engine Cleaner, Wakefield Yorkshire
Macdonald, Peter, Nephew, born about 1892, Engine Cleaner, Liverpool Lancashire
Macdonald, Samuel, Son, born about 1898, School, Burnley Lancashire
Macdonald, Mary, Granddaughter, born about 1906, School, Garston Liverpool Lancashire

Dennis appears to be having a little bother replying on the forum. I have sent him an email to ask for further details, but as yet am still awaiting his reply. Hopefully he will post on here soon.
