Emma Amelia Victoria Makin

Can anyone find Emma after the 1901 census? I've had no luck on the 1911, can't find a marriage or a death.
She was born 1888 in Liverpool and her parents were Allen and Margaret Makin. She had a sister, Daisy Patience who went on to be a nurse and travelled to America before settling in England in 1950. She never married. Daisy died in 1952 and left a will but there's no mention of Emma. Should I assume that Emma died before Daisy and if so did she marry?
Any help much appreciated. It's not urgent, just niggling.
Thanks in advance
Barbara

Who registers Allen's death in 1903? Where's Margaret in 1911?

Do you have Daisy on passenger lists?

The couple appear to have had other children who must have died.

Margaret appears to have also died in 1903. How sad for the girls losing their parents in the same year.

I wonder if they are with relations in 1911 perhaps not using their own surnames?

I think Daisy is a servant at 71 Grove St Liverpool in 1911 transcribed as Daisy P Mabrin

A passenger list for Daisy shows her entering the country from Montreal in 1939 address Mill Road Infirmary. And again in 1950 giving an address of 6 Valescourt Rpad West Derby. I wonder who else lived there?.

There might be staff records for Mill Road that would give next of kin.

Also in 1910 Daisy was confirmed at St Saviour's Liverpool home address 71 Grove Street again I wonder who else lived there.

That's the same place as she was the following year in the census, working as a servant.

Just checked my directories for 1911 and 1914

Miss Rachael Nicoll was listed in both for 71 Grove Street E

Interestingly there was a Mrs Ada Makin at 113 Grove Street E, not sure if she is a relative?

No sign of Emma though.

I did put in a search for deaths for just Emma Amelia Victoria b. 1888 no surname and then cross checked them for marriages with all the surnames that came up, but nothing!

Thanks to everyone for the help. Still no sign of Emma.
I think the Valescourt address that Daisy went to is a relative of her mother's. I'm sure someone on the forum found that out for me but I can't find it.
Emma remains a mystery. Is it possible she emigrated with Daisy and never came back?

Death Allen Makin dec qtr W Dby 1903 aged 48yrs.

Death of Margaret W dec qtr W Dby 1903 aged 43 yrs.

Ages fit in with 1901 census.

To die together, you have to wonder.
By 1911 Emma could have married?

Hi Barbara,
No identifiable sign of Emma on the outgoing passenger lists. I don't think Daisy emigrated, rather she was visiting overseas, perhaps in an official working capacity. All three of her entries show England as eventual destination. There should be return dates on Ancestry to match the departure dates.

A thought... was Daisy going across the Atlantic to visit Emma who had somehow slipped across before 1911?
There is an Emma leaving in March 1911 listed as a 'wife' which is why I previously passed over her but she is unaccompanied. No age given and perhaps 'wife' was to deter shipboard suitors?

That's the one that matches my outgoing find pre-1911 census. And now we have an age that is a very near match! Are we getting warm?

Well done Mary finding all that info :D

However that last record from New York gave Emma's nationality as Foreigner!, she was also a housekeeper!

We need someone to try and check the census in Canada in 1911. There is a Thomas Makin b.1891 England in Halifax Nova Scotia, relative maybe? I haven't a full sub :(
