Hi and welcome to the forum.

You have done really well to get that far back, could you tell us what sort of help you are looking for? and how you think your Henry is related to the others you have named and what dates etc. do you have for them.

Hello Mary A, thank you for your reply. I think I have done reasonably well but there are a few things I am not sure about, I live to far away to keep coming over to the north west. Here is what I know.

Henry Welsby B. 1772 m.Mary Leech 1809 in Liverpool.

Father: John Welsby bap.24/9/1738 Winwick.will written 1791,proved 1797. Buried St. Elphins Warrington.I think he had a brother William.
Mother:Ellen Dobson also buried St. Elphins.

Johns father: Henry born abt.1716 Prescot.Buried 16/9/1777. Occupation husbandman.
Johns mother: Ellen ,buried 8/1/1777.

Johns G.father: Henry born 1687
Johns G.mother Mary Mollineux m. 1711 in Huyton.

This is where I get confused,I have been told that Henry senior was the son of William Welsby and Alice Parr m.Huyton 1680. I can find no record of a son called Henry,I have a few more ideas to try, but would really like a bit of help.

I thought there might be some Welsby family still living around the Warrington area.

Hope I hear from you. Humfrey.

I have asked if a member of the Warrington Group could pop in and look at your queries, they may have more idea of what is available in that area.

Could I ask where you have collected your information from?

I spoke with somebody from Warrington Library - 01925 442889, as I had been told that the Society hosts a Help Desk there, which they do but from time to time, rather than on a regular basis.

There is however, one held tomorrow - Friday 20th July, in the Orford Library, which is in the New Jubillee Centre, down Winwick Road, Orford, but the lady I spoke with was a little uncertain of the time, possibly 10.00 am but if you telephone they should be able to tell you - 572504.

I have collected my information from the following:

Family search .org
A short membership ancestry.co.uk
I paid a genealogist , but I found a lot of that information a bit muddling.
I have used Lancashire OnLine project.
Traveled from North Yorkshire where I live,to Chester records office. It takes ages to cross the country from east to west.
Do you think I have done enough? I hoped there might be someone in your area that might be researching the same family,or even be a Welsby .

You have certainly done a lot.

I don't know of many of our forum members who live in the Warrington area, which was why I suggested contacting the Members of the Warrington Group of our Society, that way you might meet some locals. http://www.warrington.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/

Obviously one of the best things you can do is having your post on the forum which is indexed by the bots and so will be picked up by Google or other search engines when anybody searches for your names.

There is indeed a Society Member with that name on her list, you can do a search of Member's Interests from the link on the main Society page.

Hi Gray,
I think this Henry is the right one,I was told his father and mother were William Welsby and Alice Parr. The problem is the the research I do tell me they only had 4 children.
Ellen b. 1686
Joseph b. 1698
Alice b. 1696
Martha b. 1702

I hoped someone in Lancashire might know the family.
Hope the knitting is going well.

Hi Gray, I do hope your knitting isn't suffering whilst you are doing all this research.
I think I was on the right track,as long as Alice Parr was their mother. I can now go back another two generations.

Hi Mary ,I did try the library this morning, no reply.

Thank you everyone. Humfrey

Hi Humfrey

I have just been reading through the posts on the Welsby family. I have quite a large family tree for the Welsbys of Huyton, and a little info on the Welsbys of Warrington. I have Henry Welsby of Huyton born 1687 married to Mary Mullineux born 1686 married 1711 and they have a child Henry born 1718, but I do not have any information on him. It is a distant branch of my tree so I haven't taken it any further, however if it links in with yours I would love to share info.

Hello Miss,
I would love to share information with you. I started my research with my grandfathers name and the Welsby wine and spirits business in Chester,I have discovered such a lot. My maiden name was Welsby so they are not a distant part of my family.

Thank you for your post, I hope I hear from you.

Humfrey.
