Hi

If anybody is visiting the LRO - could I ask for an obit lookup in the Crosby Herald? I have rung the Herald to see if I could order a back copy but they only have them for 6weeks back.

This person only died on 7th April so I do not want to put the name here as it's too recent.

If anybody could do the lookup - could you pm me for details?

You could try this site for obits. It has filters so you can rule papers in or out according to district.

Thanks for the link but it only allows a 2 month maximum lookup period and the death was 7th April so is outside the range. Would be great if they made it 3mths!!

Have you confirmed that the LRO have the copies? I only ask because I wondered if Crosby Library would have had them.

Sefton Local History have the Crosby Herald. They may have a look for the back number for you as it's so recent it won't be filmed. Their telephone number is 0151 257 6401.

I rang the Crosby Herald this morning and was told that copies more than 6 weeks old are at Liverppol RO. I asked her if she meant the one in the City centre which she confirmed

Unfortunately - no joy on the Liverpool Echo site (advanced search used)

The Crosby Herald has their own Family Notices site similar to the Echo one:

I had already tried the Heralds own site but they do not have notices as far back as April online

Unfortunately, all the Trinity Group papers, of which the Herald is one, only retain 'family' notices which are less than 6 weeks old online. I would have thought 3 or even 6 months would have been a better cutoff point but 'they' obviously have their reasons.

The Record Office do not have back dated copies. However, my friend Rog the Dodge lives near Crosby Library and will pop in and look it up for me.
