Clues required Victoria - what is the first census you have them on married and which is the last you have of them individually before marriage.

Is this your man?
1881 census in Wellington St Dalton in Furness
Richard Halsall 55 joiner bn Isle of Man
Mary Ann wife 50 bn Bowness
Joseph Redhead stepson 19 bn Penny Bridge
So presumably you're looking for a Mary Ann Redhead marrying a Richard Halsall.
Have you found Mary Ann as Redhead with her husband? His name would possibly make it posssible to find Mary Ann's first marriage and thus her maiden name.

Hi there,
There is a marriage for a Richard Edward Halsall to Mary Ann Redhead in IOM in 1889:
http://www.iomfhs.im/lawsons/LawsonBMD/ ... h_mar.html
If this is the one, then it looks like they were not actually married when the 1881 census was taken
The same marriage is on FamilySearch:
Groom's name: Richard Edward Halsall
Groom's birth date: 1829
Groom's age: 60
Bride's name: Mary Anne Redhead
Bride's birth date: 1833
Bride's age: 56
Marriage date: 17 Jun 1889
Marriage place: Malew, Isle Of Man
Groom's father's name: Thomas Halsall
Bride's father's name: William Jefferson
Groom's marital status: Single
Bride's marital status: Widowed

Hi Alison!! Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!
I have been looking all over Ulverston for their marriage!!
And also the groom's father is a Thomas Halsall - who I am trying to "prove" is my William Halsall's father! I normally call them the "awful" Halsall's but I think they are the "naughty" Halsalls! Always not quite telling the "truth" on census!!
You are a star!! And Malew is the right place too!
