cropper and white families of southport ( rimmers also)

hi I`v just found a conectoin between my WHITE family and the CROPPER family in southport . lillian white married frank kent cropper in 1921 .adopted son of thomas douglas cropper. Lillian was my great aunt and daughter of emma rimmer and frederick white . my grandfather was tom angus white ,who played football for s/port,everton and england in 1930`s. any one know about the cropper connection and the adoption of frank? barbara (lemondog)

Adoption wasn't legal till 1926, and it may have been a private arrangement, however over the last week while I have been working on my Soldiers project. I have come across 4 baptisms for children being adopted. In two of the baptisms it gives the birth mother so it will be worthwhile checking the baptism registers close to where the family lived.

Frank and Lilian were married at St Lukes Church in Southport in 1921. Do you have their marriage certificate?

Emma Rimmer and Frederick White were married at St Philip and St Paul in 1895 in Southport. This is now a combined church so they could have been married in either St Peter or St Paul's churches. Do you have their marriage certificate?

If yes to the above please could you post the information on them.

Thomas D Cropper married FRances C Skidmore in 1895 in Ormskirk Reg District it was a register office or registrar attended marriage

The 1911 free index also just shows Frank as Frank Kent

hi. I don`thave any records on thomas douglas cropper only what I have found on ancestery , census and no birth certs for frank as there are a few KENTS that could be his parents. I do have info on lillian `s parents .frederick and emma .frederick was born in cockermouth ,cumberland 1870 father thomas 1842 mother mary chapman 1842. emma was born 1871 ,father robert rimmer and mother mary agnes wright. emma nad frederick living at 8 willow grove ,s/port 1911. 7 children in total . hope this is of help .

As the Education Officer has said you need to apply for the birth Certificate for Frank Kent in order to get his parentage. He has the middle name of Kent on his marriage entry and what EO has located on the census records is correct. The only way to find the parentage for Frank (Kent) Cropper is to get the Birth certificate.

hi. just a note to let you know that I found Frank kent cropper buried in st.cuthberts ,curchtown . died 12.01.1965. He is in the same grave as Frederick and emma white (nee rimmer ) as he seems to have died 10 days after emma and was married to lilian mary their daughter. great find.

Well done, it's a good feeling to find where their last resting place is, and you never know who else you might find in the grave also, can often answer lots of questions.

If my memory serves me well what is now the retail park at Kew Island in Southport had a garage on it called Croppers.

living in Aughton ,there is a big link with cooppers lane, and croppers farm just off prescot road from melling to ormskirk . as frank kent cropper was buried with his inlaws ,got me thinking were his wife might be lilian mary but she didn`t die till 1994 age 97 ( I think ) they live a long time the women in this family! but being so late it was probably a cremation ?
