Searching for burial place - Edna May Gregson 1968

Post by nuttybird1977 »

Hi Everyone :)
My name is Erica and I am researching my mums line of the family, I struggled a bit at first as mum was adopted at birth, I have now located her birth mother (unfortunately she had died) and have found a living Aunt..... she told me that her mother had died when she was very young and that she had not been allowed to go to the funeral and had never been told where she was buried.

I have already purchased her birth certificate and have now found her death registration so have ordered that certificate but I know it will not tell me where she is buried.

This is what I have so Far for her

Edna may Rimmer b:6th Sept 1928 at 9 Calmet Street - Parents John and Elizabeth Rimmer (nee: Osborne)
Edna may married Dennis Gregson : 3rd Qtr 1951 in Prescot
Edna may Gregson Died :4th Qtr 1968 in Liverpool North
Edna and dennis had 2 children together Steven Gregson b:1953 Liverpool North d:2010 buried in Frodsham and Female gregson b: 1954 Liverpool North

Edna was living at 28 Merton Drive, Roby near Liverpool in Nov 1946 when she had my mother( she was sent to southport to give birth)
I have found Edna's mothers birth, marriage as she was born in the same house. It would seem most of my Osborne's lived in Everton Area.
Elizabeth Osborne b:1904 W.Derby.( 9 Calmet Street)
Elizabeth Osborne m: 1st Qtr 1928 Ormskirk - to John Rimmer (cannot find birth for John)

Elizabeth's parents were Arthur and Martha Osborne Nee: Pickstock m: 1897 4th Qtr W.Derby.(no definate birth (approx 1850) or death as yet for Arthur, Martha b:1875 2nd Qtr W.Derby. and died 1964 2nd Qtr W.Derby)

Arthur's Parents were James and Ann Osborne Nee: Clark/e m: 1872 3rd Qtr @ St Peters Liverpool.(cant find definate births on either as yet but Anne died in1904 and James died 1926 aged 75 both in W.Derby)

James Parents were Henry and Jane Osborne Nee: Meadows m:1843 4th Qtr @ St Nicholas Liverpool. Henry died : 1857 and Jane died 1853 .

I have 1851 census James Osborne with parents Henry and Jane, age 1. Nothing in 1861. then 1871 found James Osborne and brother Thomas as boarders at the family home of Ann Clark in Mount Pleasant.

I have quite a few Possibles for families of the Osborne spouses but am waiting for all three certificates to confirm that I have indeed got the right spouses. Will let you know when they arrive.

I have succesfully found most of my North Meols side of the family with the help of the Lancashire online parish clerk website but none of my Osborne Family appear at all on it, Can anyone offer any help or advice please?

Thanks in advance

Erica

Hi E.O
The marriage took place in Ormskirk R.O or Rego attended.
There are a two Rimmer/Osborne births for the area, after Edna in W Dby.
She was only 42 when she died.

There are two reasons why a marriage is recorded as either "Register Office or Registrar Attended", one is that they did actually have a Register Office marriage, the other is that the Registrar attended an RC marriage.

Have you thought to ask your aunt what religion she is? If she is Catholic then it is probable that Edna was also and the first place to check for a burial place will be Ford Cemetery. You will find the records on microfiche at the Record Office, 2nd Floor, World Museum, William Brown Street, Liverpool.

However, depending on where the address is on the Death Certificate it could be that you should approach

You need to get the actual marriage certificate to see the father's names. What you have is a reference from an index.

Rimmer is an extremely common name in the Southport area so without his father's name it's very difficult to proceed.

You have a birth date for Elizabeth do you have her birth certificate if yes who are her parents?

I have already stated that i am waiting for the marriage certificates to arrive to confirm particular details and I have Ednas Birth certificate which clearly states mothers maiden name as Osborne and Fathers name as John Rimmer which led me to their marriage.I am not a novice at this but not a genius at it either but there is only one Elizabeth Osborne Marrying a John Rimmer that I have found throughout my various subscriptions between1911( which is the last census I have on Elizabeth) and 1928 when their daughter Edna May was born. As far as Rimmer's of Southport gogaining that infoshouldn't be difficult at all. I also have the disc of St Cuthberts Parish register extracts for Rimmer. So all should be good there :)

Thanks for the edit :) thought I'd already changed it

I have to say I was worried that my posting this may upset someone as my mother's birth may not have been known about by the family - I do hope I haven't?
