Marriage Records - Help Please

Hi All
Wondering if you can help me with the following, my question being would there be two marriage certificates.
My great grandmother re-married in 1916 following the death of her first husband in 1913.
I have found the marriage banns in 1916, record and have the marriage certificate.
As they were widow and widower I thought I would look to see if I could find the first wife for her second husband, and came across another marriage in 1920, for my great grandmother and the second husband, just by chance.
The first marriage in 1916 was at St Peters Church, Liverpool, the second St Francis Xavier, all the details match for her for the 1920 marriage. My working out from the third marriage record in 1920 if I am correct from reading the Latin in the end column, that he may have changed religion?
Again Back to my question would there be a second marriage certificate for the 1920 marriage.
or as they were already legally married they would not need one??, as yet I have not found a record for the 1920 marriage other than the church record.
Appreciate your thoughts
regards
Michelle
