SARA OR SARAH DAVIES PART 2!!!

Post by Sue H »

Hi ........membership paid!!

Have decided to go back to basics as advised. I have my nans death certificate dob 7 april 1908 - death 19 may 1989. Grandads details are correct on it so hoping to go from this (again)

Marriage certificate 27th March 1926 - thros out the above, but she was only 17 at that time so who knows......

I have just found out that grandads parents were living at 12 Brookhill Road, Bootle Village and were still there when his father died in 1944..Nan and Grandad put 79 Brookhill Road on the marriage certificate.....

So if I were to come to Liverpool how can I check this address for occupants at various stages in the 1900's

What information does the Liverpool Museam hold

Sue

Hi Sue,
In 1901, according to the census, the occupants of #12 were Edward and Ann Thomas and their family. #79 was home to the Pendletons. A decade later and #12 is now occupied by 2 families; Joseph and Elizabeth Geach and children, and William and Margaret Hughes and children. #79 is home to Frederick and Elizabeth Wilde and their children.

Hopefully the crew with access to street and trade directories may be able to fill in a couple of gaps for with the name of head of household.

Hi DS

William and Margaret Hughes are my grandads family, Joseph and Elizabeth Geach have no idea, but the chap who has done my grandad's family tree may, so will ask him

Frederick and Elizabeth Wilde no idea

Could I learn anything more by going to Liverpool Museam?

If John William Davies is Sarah and Norah father and he died in 1915, they would have been under 10 could they have been adopted or put in orphanage or work house?

You may well be able to check Electoral Registers, however it would be best to contact them first and find out if they are indeed held at the World Museum or at the Sandhills Satellite Office for the time being. These won't give the whole family but might give an indication of the name of the family living there at the time.

The adoption system didn't begin until 1927 so there would be no records for the years you are looking at, it's often more likely to be an unofficial taking in by a family member, or as you say possibly an industrial type school, what records there are for these will be at the Record Office, but again depending on whether they are paper copies, they may also be at Sandhills, check first.

Bootle Electoral rolls will be at Crosby Library in the Local History section upstairs.

Bootle was its own Borough until 1974 when it became part of the new borough of Sefton.

Hi Folks

Well found out that Frederick and Elizabeth were relations to my grandad.

I can only find one child at the moment Ellen 1900-1982

What I have found is a large French connection all living in Bootle!!

How far forward have you traced the Frenches? without giving details on here of living people. You may might make some connections as I notice that on 192.com there are a number of entries for that surname in the Bootle area, a lot of Electoral Register entries, but four from the telephone book giving addresses and telephone numbers.

A letter, including a stamped addressed envelope for a reply, is often a nice approach to discover whether somebody might be related.
