Please can you help my friend?
I will copy paste the record from Anx.
We can't find Frank anywhere in previous census or his birth.
Trying Francis/Kearnes etc etc.

The link worked for me but only after logging into Ancestry at their suggestion. The soldier is Frank Kearns born about 1895 he enlisted in Kirkham Lancashire. He comes from a farm labouring background. There's mention of a guardian called Robert Hornby and a non-family member, Arthur Rose, as next of kin. This could be a difficult one perhaps involving a name change.

The only birth registration that comes near is a Frank Horace Carnes born Jan/Feb/Mar 1895, Volume 8E, Page 139 but the registration district is Haslingden on the other side of Lancashire. This Frank Carnes is in Accrington in East Lancs rather than West Lancs so I don't think it's him. There's no sign of a middle name on the Ancestry record so another reason to disgard Frank Carnes.

The census before 1914 has no Frank in the 100+ houses in Preston Street, Kirkham, but I see Poulton Street on one of the forms which will take more time to explore.
[There were many workers in spinning and weaving cotton and an 'operative, bioscope'.]

Many soldiers joined up under false names for a variety of reasons. Perhaps we have one here.

There was a George Francis Kearns in Anfield but aged only 6 in 1911 and others outside Lancs...

Frank Kearns, Stoker, second class, HMS King Alfred, a first class cruiser at Torquay, age 18, born West Derby.

Another add-on: in that same census '49 & 51 Poulton St', Kirkham had Arthur Rose aged 15 and his family, who must be the 'next friend' named by Frank on his attestation form. Arthur was born nearby at Poulton, but three older siblings were born Liverpool. Mother, a widow, was born at Shepherds Bush, London.

just a though re Robert Hornby, guardian, mentioned by Blue. There is a Robert Hornby, Master of The Naiad, Off Piel Island in 1901

can you see who is master of Ship Frank is on in 1911? could it be Robert Hornby?

It was a Royal Naval ship in '11, with a captain, not a master [and a huge ship's company.]. Naiad sounds like a merchant vessel.
