Does anyone know what these Test Houses are?
In the census that isnt to be mentioned a relative is mentioned in the west derby one.

Mike Royden's site describes as follows:
http://www.btinternet.com/~m.royden/mrl ... oorlaw.htm
The sick patients (from Mill Road), meanwhile, were transferred to the Test House in Belmont Road, the vagrant workhouse of the West Derby Union (later known as Newsham General Hospital).

Hi Ali,
Re that ssshhhhush census! If that relative is yours and you did the lookup yourself it is quite in order to post the information here. It is doing lookups on behalf of third parties and posting the results das ist streng verboten!

PS: Every time you post your 'screen-name' it reminds me of November the 5th, Guy Fawkes Night 1937! My dad took me to Clatterbridge Hospital on the crossbar of his bike at about 9 o'clock that night to get a dislocated elbow fixed! It was the same night my sister was born there. She is a Clatterbridge Girl!

Mum had all her babies at clatterbridge, my nickname arises out me ending up working there as a nurse! but I am happy to make you smile DS. Sorry it took so long to get back, finishing off work and running round for my trip to blighty this weekend

Hope you have a great time, pity you have just missed the Group meeting on Tuesday, depends how long you will be here, perhaps you will catch the next one? or at least call into the Record Office on a Tuesday afternoon and meet Katie and others on the Help Desk.

Thanks DS, MaryA & Tina for your condolences. A new mystery in my family came to light at the wake. Not sure it comes under this forum so will pm you as I'm not sure which way to proceed in solving this mystery about my dads father.
Thanks again
Ali
