Can you tell us where and when Edward William was born and when he went to Australia. Did the family remain in Liverpool after the parents marriage?

Can't find a Lancashire birth between 1837 and 1870 for Edward William. So, since Owen was a widower was Edward born before Owen married Elizabeth and pre-September 1837?
Have Owen and Elizabeth been found in 1851 or later?

Good questions Mary & D.S
I've had no luck trying to find the people in UK census.

Cheers

I did try looking yesterday, but unfortunately without more information, which I suspect crad9 has, we are a little stuck.

Edward William was born/registered in Manchester England around 1853; he married Mary Ann Baker in Talbot Victoria Australia on 28 June 1876 and died on 17 April 1925. Most of his life was spent in Preston Victoria, although the majority of their children were born in Amhurst (Talbot) Victoria. Edward and Mary Ann had 15 children, but there is some talk that the youngest was in fact the son of their first-born daughter, ie their grandson but reared as their son, which I believe was quite common in those times.
I am not sure when Edward went to Australia, but am hoping my continued search may find the answer

The only birth I see for Edward William near that date is Q2 1855 Salford 8d 10, however the LDS site has what I suspect is the birth of this person, 6 April 1855, christened 17 May, 1855, Eccles, with parents Thomas Doughty and Louisa Anne Pritchard.
Please can you be more specific as to his birth, where you got the information from and if you have found to family on the 1851 census.

Hi Mary,
RE:

The Edward Pritchard christened May 17th is shown in the 1881 census, so have to rule him out. I also suspect he is the Salford registered birth.
Census Place: Pendleton In Salford, Lancashire, England
RG11 / Piece:3942 / Folio: 125 / Page: 25.
Crad9, while there is a possibility that Edward's birth was not registered, what is the source of your information he was born in Manchester abt 1853?
Ahem! There is this birth before the marriage....
PRITCHARD, William Edward - West Derby, Lancashire - 1843 - Jan-Feb-Mar - 20 - 906.

Haven't found him yet in 1851 but there's no matching death before then.

Thanks Everyone for the brilliant replies.
My info that Edward William Pritchard was born in Manchester England comes from his marriage certificate to Mary Ann Baker on 28 June 1876, where he is also recorded as 23 years of age. Which puts his birth at 1853. Also, he was 72 when he died in 1925 according to Preston Cemetery Records.
Have since found out some information from kind distant relative re Owen Pritchard and Elizabeth Williams. Elizabeth went to Australia, recorded as widowed (14/4/1852) and married a George Smith in 1854 in Williamstown, Victoria. They had a son and a daughter and interestingly enough the stepbrothers, Edward William Pritchard and George Smith Jnr, married twins Mary Ann Baker and Jemima Baker, respectively.
I have been searching for Elizabeth's information for some time, only to find out that she is buried in Coburg, Victoria! And that she was born in Bangor, Wales in 1816, and died in Victoria in 1902. Her father was William Williams and her mother Jane Morris. (The names Smith and Morris were carried through as middle names to some of Edward William Pritchard and Mary Ann Baker's 14 children.)
So my search now is to find out where Owen Pritchard is buried, and when exactly and on what ship Elizbeth went to Australia.

Hi there
I'm not sure if you have this info?
In the grave at Coburg Cemetery C of E for Elizabeth Smith (passed away 26.3.1902 86yrs) is a Margaret Pritchard 69yrs buried 7th Jan 1910.
Also Jane N Coleman 22yrs and her child buried 5.10.1911.
Tina
Added: how very sad, Jane N was the daughter of Edward Prithcard and Mary Ann Baker.

Do we have an approximate dob for Owen? apart from "full" in 1845.
The nearest burials prior to the date of Elizabeth's departure, that I can find on Ancestry took place on 30th June, 1850, Liverpool St Paul. Owen Pritchard, 55 years, abode Vauxhall Road.
or at St John, Liverpool, on 25th November, 1841 (drowned 22nd November) 33 years, abode Westmoreland Street.
Of course Ancestry are far from a comprehensive list.
