I'm desperately trying to find a marriage entry for Ann Draper and Bernard Shiels in Apr, May, Jun 1919. Could anyone help me try and find out what church this may have been at so I can search for the marriage entry?
Many thanks,

LancsBMD only has it listed as Liverpool, Register Office or Registrar Attended, so unfortunately the nearest we would be able to say is that it is likely to be an RC church, but possibly a non conformist.
Have you tried searching any trade/street directories for them to see which area they lived in and then you could try the nearest RC and work from there.

It would make sense for it to be a RC church. She lived in Nursery Street, L3 so I suppose it might make sense to search local churches to there, howerer I just did a search on ancestry.co.uk/liverpool rc marriage listings and nothing come up. Maybe they don't feature all RC church records on there.

Churches that have been ruled out:
Our Lady Of Reconciliation
All Souls (Collingwood Street)
All Saints
Sacred Hearts
Could be:
Holy Cross
St Albans
St Anthonys
St Swithyn's
I'll have to check these out at the record office. Otherwise I'll have to buy the certificate (unless anyone has any other ideas).

If it's not in Ancestry's RC Marriages collection it could be a registry office marriage.

The woman in question would have been a widow and also about 53 at the time of marriage. For the churches I've attached, Ancestry only holds records up until around 1907 and doesn't include 1919 so there may be a chance it's one of those.

Hi Dlh1,
I really think you are in for the long haul searching for a church entry. I suggest getting the marriage cert a much quicker route...
Marriage Jun qtr 1919 - Liverpool - 8b - 169: Draper, Ann and Shiels, Bernard.
Would SKP in the Liverpool Registry Office do a quick looksee and tell you which church?

Hi dickiesam - who's SKP in the registry office? Not heard of this before. Do they charge to do a quick search for the church?

Oh! Sorry! SKP is Some Kind Person and there are still quite a few about.
One of the crew here will tell you more about searches in the Registry Office. I've never had to submit such a request but I know who others have and received a sympathetic reception.

You could either contact them by phone, email or even writing to them,
http://liverpool.gov.uk/births-marriage ... index.aspx but I did find once upon a time - quite a number of years ago I must admit - that when I called in in person and acted a bit naive about how to do searches, the girl at the desk did check the computer there and then to see if I was guessing the correct entry.

The Roman Catholic Baptisms and Marriages on Ancestry only go up to 1906. If I am correct the nearest R/C church would be St Joseph's but check.

My mistake on the marriages but I do know that the collection is not complete. I know that a Sarah Fearon married Patrick Ealey in 1915 and they got married at St Josephs and this marriage is not coming up on Ancestry. Paul who works for the Record Office informed me that the index is not complete and there are entries for the collection not on Ancestry, so I would still check

After spending a good hour in the record office and trawling through about 15 RC church records, I finally found the couple, on my very last church record which was St Gerard's church. Unfortunately as always, RC church records don't give ages for the people registering so I will have to purchase the record and hope that the people on it are in their 50's!
Thanks,
