What age is considered to be minor in 1820s

I have a copy of the marriage register for my 3 X Great grandfather Thomas Kendall in 1827 .The text is a bit faint but appears to describe him as a druggist and a minor. What age is considered a minor at this time? Also does the occupation druggist mean there would be some trade records to be found for him?
His father in law,Thomas Cope, is described elsewhere as a mariner.
Does the term refer to anyone who went to sea or would it indicate a specific status?
Regards
Peter

HI Crad9
A druggist was a chemist.
Not totally sure about minor age, but would say under 21 but happy to be contradicted ;D
(Ancestry) have marriage banns and it states Thomas Kendall and Harriet Cope were both minors with both their parents consent. The witnesses were Harriet mother Susannah Cope and Johan Christian.
Harriets DOB was 20/07/1807 and she was baptised at the age of 4 yrs on 24/1/1812 at the same church she married Thomas in Christ Church, Liverpool with her sister Emma and brother David, their father was Benjamin Cope, Architect & mother Susannah Cope, wife living on Scotland road.
I did consider the 1809 Harriet Cope with father Thomas the mariner but the mother Susannah was on the wedding banns as well as the baptism and at the same church just seemed to be a better fit for you.

Agree with the age of a minor being under 21 Ali.

I created a timeline which shows that the Age Of Majority was reduced from 21 to 18 in 1969, however the legal age for marriage was 14 for men and 12 for women and wasn't raised to 16 until 1929.
So really "minor" doesn't necessarily denote a particular age, except under 21.

Thanks very much for your replies. It certainly looks like I had the wrong father for Harriet. It opens up a few things for me.
Re the druggist question, I had it in mind that there may be some kind of trade register for druggists etcetera.

Thanks again CBG for your kind Offer.
I have only found one child for Thomas and Harriet.i.e. Thomas Cope Kendall born 1830.If you could find anymore I would be grateful.
Regarding Thomas Cope Kendall himself I have found eight children
including another Thomas Cope Kendall who seems to have disappeared to America around 1890 leaving behind very young children including my grandfather William Bootle Kendall.

Thanks again CBG.I didn't pick up your reply straight away as the system didn't notify me there was an update. Anyway thanks again for a whole heap of info. Some I had but other bits are new to me like the 1871 Kendell mis-spelling. I have printed it all off and it will take me a while to go through it all. Thanks again
Peter
