Does anyone know anything about Bibbys? Not the shipping line, the other one. My Dad worked for them in the 1920s and I think he was a flour packer. If anyone can shed any light on this company it would be really helpful, thanks

Bibby's made foodstuffs for humans and animals. One of their brands from the 1930s was Trex cooking oil, with a dark blue label. They also made Bibby soap, Flakettes soap flakes and Brownie and Glee washing powders.

I have A Miller's Tale - there are some good photos of inside the factory, and of their products, though it is very much a corporate history.

My grandfather was an "oil extractor" for Bibby's in the 1910s. See http://bramhill.net/BramhillLiverpool/m ... osion.html
for more on the 1911 explosion.

My Mum worked in the offices at Bibby's before she was married. That would have been in the late 40's-early 50's. She was also in the Bibby's amateur dramatics society. My sister has some photos of productions and possibly the office as well.
