Hi,
Would any one out there be able to pinpoint where this pub was? I assume it was on or near Mill Lane, off Higher Lane. There was a Richard Kirby as publican around 1901 census.
Thanks,
Ste

Could you please give the reference for the 1901 census, the only Richard Kirby, publican in Rainford I found was at the Muncaster Arms.

The pub is marked on my 1930s Road Atlas of S. Lancs: south of the junction of Church Road and Rookery Lane, in Church Road before it becomes Pasture Lane. It was almost opposite Star Inn cottages.
If you send me a PM with your email I'll scan it for you.

Thanks Daggers, pm sent.
Hi Mary, the Richard Kirby at the Muncaster Arms is he's dad, my Richard is the son listed, on my Richard Kirby's casualty war record, at the Mill House pub.
Thanks to you both,
