Birkdale, ASHWORTH - electoral roll lookup?

My Great Aunts and an Uncle lived at 5 Barrett Road, Birkdale.
They were certainly there till 1967 and I think right into the 70's.
My Uncle was Charlie, Aunts Margaret and Nellie.
Could anyone look them up in the electoral rolls to check what years they were there from and to?

Also I had another Uncle in the same area, William who married Bessie? He was the brother of the above siblings. Can anyone locate them?
I'm sure they lived nearby in Birkdale.

Thanks R

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have left your message as it is at present and possibly you could let us know if you believe these people are still living, however I must advise you that we have a policy not to post details of living people on our forum.

If it were possible that anybody could help with your request they would not be able to search for William and Bessie since the electoral registers are searchable by address.

If you are searching for descendants of the Ashworths, can I suggest that you check our post where we have tried to put together a few hints http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=8154 The local newspaper for Birkdale will be the The Southport Visiter

The electoral rolls for Birkdale are presently held in Local History Sefton North at Formby library. They are not indexed in Alphabetical order but by streets in the relevant wards.

The local history section also holds directories of the area for some years over the time scale you mention.

The staff might be prepared to look for a couple of years but to go through the electoral rolls for possibly 10 years plus the directories would be a time consuming task so you may need to employ a researcher to do this for you.

You could also contact the local paper Southport Visiter perhaps they would publish a letter from you.

To get some idea of the time scale it would be worth finding the death date of your relatives. Also did they have children? If so look for their marriages.

Thanks for the information.
I can confirm they are not alive.
None of them had children.

Margaret has her name on a gravestone of her mother and father (back in Rochdale).

It is William whom I have never found.

Thanks R

Perhaps Lemondog's response wasn't any help to you? it would be good if you could confirm that one way or the other.

If it is only William that you are now looking for our Education Officer's suggestions appear to be your best route to follow.

Ther Electoral Rolls mentioned on my previous post are moving to Crosby Library and will be available there from Monday 4 July. They may be available next week at Crosby but check first. They are no longer at Formby.
