St Nicholas RC, burials

Post by daggers »

This query is not mine, but from an acquaintance on another forum, but I'm sure some of our super-sleuths can give an answer:
"Four of my relatives were buried there [chapel of St N., Copperas Hill] in the early 19th century. Would they have been buried at the church or was the cemetery separate? If so, where would they have been buried. Does the cemetery or graves still exist? (I'd like to get a look at them if they're still there.)"

I know that the church/chapel was there from 1815 to 1972, and was the pro-cathedral for some time, but burials? I hope you can help.

The same request (or so similar it's uncanny) was on lancashire roots chat yesterday with responses - I think it will answer the question.

Thanks. I'll leave it at that.
