Hi everyone:
My 3x great grandmother Mary McMillian died in the Walton Workhouse. 28 Feb 1875. She was there because of paralysis. My problem is trying to locate a grave. Since I am in the USA I have no idea how to start this search. I feel if I find her I will find her daughter and son-in-law.
I also am interested in how long she was there. She had lived with her daughter and son-in-law their entire married life.
Thanks for any help someone can give me.
Walton Workhouse

Hi Sanderson,
Do you have your relative on the 1871 census with her daughter and son-in-law? What were their names and where and when were they born?
The records for Walton Workhouse are at Liverpool Records Office, it will need someone to go there and have a look.

Sorry Sanderson, I made a mistake about the records for Walton Workhouse,
I found this link that Katie had posted.

I'm surprised not to find her in Walton Parochial Cemetery as that is where Iwould have expected her to be buried from the Workhouse, but she's not showing online. What religion was she?

Hi the only death I can find 1st q 1875 W Dby is for Mary McMillan not Mc Millian she was 68yrs.
Is this your Mary?
The only one I can find 1871 bn 1807 Scotland was a boarder in N. Meols.
Nothing listed for her, under mother in law, unless wrongly transcribed for her surname.

Hi Sanderson,
I know this doesn't help finding where Mary McMillian was buried but it is background for the benefit of the crew...
Like Tina, the only death I could find was.... Deaths Mar 1875: McMILLAN, Mary - 68 - W. Derby - 8b - 425.
I'd say the informant or the registrar got the spelling wrong. And while the address where she died on the death cert may be that of the Rice Lane Workhouse in Walton, she probably died in the infirmary attached to the workhouse. That would mean a family burial rather than a workhouse burial in an unmarked plot.
And I did find Mary in 1871:
PARRY, Wm Robt - Head - 37 - Corris, Merionethshire.
PARRY, Mary - Wife - 35 - Knighton, Radnorshire.
PARRY, Henry John - Son - 10 - Worcestershire.
PARRY, Charles Edwin - Son - 8 - Worcestershire.
PARRY, Edward Robt - Son - 7 - Worcestershire.
PARRY, George Wm - Son - 6 - Worcestershire.
MCMILLIAN, Mary - Mother-in-law - 66 - Wednesbury [Staffs?].
Address: 31 Dodge Street, West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire.
RG10 / Piece:3842 / Folio:61 / Page:3.
And on a personal note, William Robert Parry came from the village I married in!:o
